Prepare the Cherry Filling* Drain the maraschino cherries thoroughly and pat them dry with paper towels.* Add the cherries to a food processor and pulse until finely chopped into a thick, spoonable mixture. Avoid turning them into a liquid.* If the mixture seems too dry, stir in 1–2 teaspoons of the reserved cherry juice.
Butter-Fry the Twinkies* Melt the butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-low heat.* Place the Twinkies in the pan and cook for 1–2 minutes per side, rotating occasionally until they’re evenly golden brown with a lightly crisp exterior.
Stuff the Twinkies* Remove the Twinkies from the skillet and allow them to cool for about 1 minute.* Using a small knife, cut a slit along the top center of each Twinkie, creating a pocket without slicing all the way through.* Carefully spoon the chopped maraschino cherry mixture into each Twinkie until generously filled.
Finish and Serve* Top each warm Twinkie with a generous swirl of whipped cream.* Garnish with additional chopped maraschino cherries or a light dusting of powdered sugar, if desired.* Serve immediately while warm.
